From a very young age I was fascinated by photography. Specially the Polaroid camera, a photo coming out of a box, that was magic. In high school I joined the photo club where the fascination was fueled even further. Waiting in the darkroom until the picture came up was always a very special moment. After highschool I went to the Royal Academy for Visual Arts (KABK) in The Hague. (1990-1994) There I learned a lot about technique, composition and the different forms of photography. Portrait photography, group photography and live photography were my favorites. I learned the real tricks of the trade during my internship at Koos Breukel. He has instilled in me the love for portraits. Then followed an exhibition in the Kunsthal with rockphotos during the Rock Around the Camera exhibition. After my photo book "Tijdsbeeld" - a series about young people in Vlaardingen, I tried my luck with film: Moving Faces. After working more than 20 years as a photographer at Lowlands Festival, I worked with great pleasure as a photo editor for the daily newspaper The Daily Paradise on Lowlands. My clients range from Mojo Concerts to De Hypotheker, Quion, De Filmkrant, Erasmus University, ERA Contour, Breederode Institute etc. etc. All this results in a motley collection of portraits over the years. From Mick Jagger to Marco Borsato, from Femke Halsema to the girl next door.
